New 'Analysis Technology' - URETEK® HOSS

URETEK Hyper Optics Survey System - URETEK® HOSS - provides new and reliable technology for detecting and recording the extent of voids under pavements.

Vehicle-mounted equipment detects voids and other subsurface conditions, as it is driven over the pavement at speeds of up to 65 km/h (40 mph), recording widths from sixty centimetres (two feet) to three metres (ten feet). For a road engineer it is an excellent tool to make a focused repair plan and get optimal use of a maintenance budget. Do less and accomplish more!

With signal penetration of up to one metre (three feet), data can be collected from multi-layers. Such information is valuable in that it provides accurate portrayals of the physical conditions and composition of each layer, creating a reliable means of evaluating the quality, condition and structural integrity of pavements and base materials.

As well as recording the location of voids, URETEK® HOSS reveals the existence of any underground utilities - water and stormwater services, gas and electrical conduits.

On a panel by panel basis, the operator thoroughly examines the subsurface for necessary repairs and can then direct remediation procedures using The URETEK Method.

Once repaired, subsequent runs of the URETEK® HOSS mobile unit can be analysed by URETEK® software, for verification that the voids have been filled and the pavement stabilised.

Advantages
One of the main advantages of URETEK® HOSS is that it can be vehicle mounted and can scan deep and wide whilst travelling at speed.

The need for sample cores is eliminated. URETEK® HOSS offers non-destructive, non-invasive inspection. Formerly an invasive sample would have to be taken at selected locations along the slab, and then taken back to the laboratory for analysis of concrete density, asphalt content, moisture content, strength, etc. URETEK® HOSS offers an dependable alternative to such "spot checking" methods and has also been shown to be more reliable than a nuclear moisture/density gauge.
