URETEK STITCH-IN-TIME restore load transfer between adjacent slabs
Patented process
URETEK developed and patented URETEK Stitch-in-Time(r) technology as a process for restoring or creating load transfer across breaks between adjacent sections of concrete pavement slabs.
The process involves saw-cutting a series of deep, one centimetre (half-inch) wide slots. The slots are spaced at regular intervals and normally at right angles to the edges of the concrete, some 50 cm (two feet) into either side. Into these slots, 6 mm (quarter inch) thick composite reinforced resin blades are inserted below the concrete surface.
After the inserts are positioned, the remaining space in the slots is filled with dry sand and the whole mass is wetted out and bonded into place with a low viscosity, hybrid, high-density polymer resin.
The URETEK Method may be used to firstly realign the pavement, if necessary to give a smoother ride, and to ensure proper support before stitching.
